Dialect Coaching
Do you need to audition for a part in a movie and/or play and must learn a regional dialect?
Does your dialect hinder you from landing endorsements or closing deals?
Regional dialect coaching is offered at The Nicole Spruill Academy to help actors/actresses, news personalities, business moguls, and sports athletes modify their dialect and/or learn a new regional dialect. An evaluation is conducted of your articulation skills, speech patterns, and voice and a comprehensive package is conducted to help create and/or modify your dialect. We can teach dialects ranging from General American (neutral), American Southern, Deep Southern, and Northern Accents.
The length of training depends on the project. Many dialects can be learned in 3-4 sessions.
Rates of dialect coaching vary based on the project and length of time. Coaching can be conducted over the phone, via Skype or on set of your production.
Accent Modification
Certified speech-language pathologists, who specialize in an extensive background in phonetics, articulation, speech communication and voice and diction, provide accent modification training to professionals from other countries. Accent modification training focuses on teaching General American English to individuals that speak a primary language other than English. Because our speech is heavily influenced by our backgrounds and culture, many speakers who speak English as a second language often find themselves misunderstood to the native listener. Our program helps clients from other countries learn the rules and sound system of General American English, making them more promotable and marketable in their careers.
Accent modification :
- Introduces the phonetics of the English language
- Training does not eliminate client’s natural accent, but modifies for clarity to the consumers or audience he/she is trying to reach
- Ideal for native speakers from other countries such as (India, China, etc.)
- Training in Accent reduction can provide opportunities for clients to advance in their career and/or perform well during presentations, interviews, etc.
- Great for professors at universities
Consultations for dialect/accent training can be provided on an individual basis or in groups. The maximum number of people in a group is four. Training will be provided by a certified speech-language pathologist and consists of 8-12 weekly hour-long sessions for accent modification.

- Recording of the sessions and exercises
We conduct sessions via Skype or on site at the client’s business office. On site training is provided in the areas of Charlotte, Concord, Huntersville and Lake Norman. Training can also be conducted on site in other states if travel expenses are paid.
